A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has won 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
